Basic technology concepts of breeding are the same for young roosters and hens, however, body weight profiles and feeding programs are different.
In spite of the fact that young roosters take a minor share of total number of birds in the stock, they are responsible for 50% of reproduction results, therefore, achieving the standard body weight is important for both young hens and young roosters.
In some regions, young hens and roosters are traditionally bred together.
However, the poultry height and development varies in accordance with sex based on various abilities of the birds to compete for the feed in a stock. Regardless of the fact that such practice can be successful, it does not allow controlling uniformity of young hens and roosters separately and generally prevents from achieving maximum potential of baby chicken production.
